]]>A Fleming Howland piece is a considered investment, handmade in Lancashire using enduring materials, traditional upholstery skills and long-established British craftsmanship.
Whether you are ordering from the United Kingdom or overseas, your commission is handled with care from the first enquiry to final delivery. Your specification is confirmed clearly, your payment is processed securely, and your furniture is supported by experienced aftercare.
We understand that many clients order from a distance. Our role is to make that process feel informed, secure and reassuring.
Every Fleming Howland order is managed with clear communication and careful documentation. Before production begins, your chosen model, dimensions, upholstery, leather or fabric, colour, filling, finish and delivery details are confirmed so that your furniture can be made to the agreed specification. Our team remains available throughout the process, offering guidance on materials, comfort, access, care and delivery planning.
Comfort is personal. For qualifying designs with removable cushion fillings, our Cushion Exchange Programme allows you to request a softer or firmer filling within 60 days of delivery. This gives you time to live with your furniture and refine the seat comfort where the design allows.
Fleming Howland furniture is built around solid internal frames and traditional upholstery methods. Our structural frame guarantee covers the internal frame for 20 years in domestic use and 10 years in average commercial use.
Fleming Howland furniture is made for long ownership. After delivery, our team can advise on care, servicing, cushion interiors, replacement components, restoration and specialist support where appropriate. Through selected independent service specialists, we can help preserve the comfort, structure and character of Fleming Howland furniture over time.
All promises and guarantees are provided in accordance with our Terms and Conditions. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

]]>You do not need to be in the UK to commission from Fleming Howland. Overseas clients can complete the entire process remotely using material samples, drawings, written specifications, photography and video consultation where helpful. Before the order is confirmed, we will also clarify the delivery service and destination pricing applying to your location.
Standard items may be ordered online. At some stage it is important to ensure you receive a swatch for approval as colour will vary under different lighting conditions. For furniture that is made to order, a 50% deposit payment is required. We accept all major credit cards and direct bank transfer payments.
If you require assistance or in need of bespoke alterations, please contact us directly for a formal proposal.
Your proposal will include the details of the piece or pieces you have discussed with us, along with guidance on how to place your order. Before proceeding, review the quotation carefully to ensure all product details, finishes, dimensions, quantities, and delivery information are correct. If anything is missing or incorrect, let us know and we will amend the quotation before your order is placed.
Once you are happy with your quotation, follow the ordering instructions provided with it. This will guide you through the next steps, including payment and confirmation of your order details.
If you have any questions before proceeding, our team will be happy to help clarify the specification, finish options, delivery service, or production timing.
If you have not yet chosen your final leather, fabric, colour, or finish, your order may still be able to proceed with the upholstery finish marked as “to be confirmed.”
This can be useful if you would like production to begin while you finalise your material choice. Frame construction typically takes approximately 6–8 weeks, so confirming the final upholstery finish later will not affect the overall production timeline, provided the selection is confirmed before upholstery work begins.
We strongly recommend reviewing samples, as colours and textures can vary depending on lighting, room setting, and surrounding materials.
If you would like to amend any part of your quotation, contact us before placing your order. This may include:
Upholstery finish
Decorative nails (studs)
Wood finish
Cushion filling
Quantity
Delivery address or service
Project deadline
Once an order has entered production, some changes may no longer be possible or may affect the production timeline.
Those who have bought a Fleming Howland before have learned to trust us. For everyone else, we point to our guarantees. When your furniture is delivered, please take a seat. If you prefer a softer or a harder seat composition, we’ll exchange your cushion filling for free anytime within 60 days after delivery. Please be sure to read about our other promises by visiting our knowledge base.

We recommend fibre for most requirements and this type of filling is the standard option for our Classic collection. Duratech
fibre cushions are the only cushion on the market to currently hold the FIRA Gold Award accreditation. Made from a polymer manufactured 100% from recycled polyester bottles, fibre cushions offer the best support with the lowest maintenance as well as a nicely domed surface. Fibre density: 27kg/m3
The more luxurious feeling duck feather fillings are by far the softest option and so sinking lower into the seat tends to give a little more back support. Feathers, being a natural material, will constantly move around giving a traditional ‘lived in’ look to your furniture. They tend to sag over time, and so require regular plumping. A little more expensive than fibre or foam, this option is standard for the Heirloom, Monochrome and Club collection. Higher maintenance but a very traditional option.
For fixed pull-over, tufted seating or contract grade loose cushions, our high-density foam option provides a distinctly firmer, more supportive sit while maintaining a crisp, tailored profile. Its excellent recovery properties allow the seat to return to its original shape after use, preserving clean lines with minimal dressing. Foam densities range from 60–90 kg/m³, selected according to the required comfort, structure and application.
The buttoned seat is a fixed seat option being a continuation of the back and arm. It offers a much firmer sit but is deceptively comfortable due to the added support within the upholstery itself. Foam densities range from 60–90 kg/m³.
